Emily Hurt
Senior Interior Designer, RID, NCIDQ, IIDA
Emily, who was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana went to LSU to study commercial interior design. Finding a love for function and aesthetic, Emily grew up with a passion for creating unique spaces that all people could experience personally. Summer of senior year of college, she traveled to Los Angeles to do an internship with hospitality firm, Hirsch Bedner Associates, where she gained experience working on and designing a hotel and luxury residence in Asia.
After graduation, she set her sights on moving to Dallas, TX where she could remain close to family, all the while pursuing a career in a big city doing hospitality design. She not only gained experience designing boutique and lifestyle hotels and restaurants with a large architecture firm, but also had the opportunity to work for a developer where she was a designer and consultant on a $450mm project in Downtown Dallas, one of the largest adaptive reuse projects in the United States to date. After 5 ½ years in Dallas, Emily and her husband decided to make a move bringing them closer to both of their families here in Birmingham, AL. In her spare time, she likes to travel home to New Orleans to see family, explore new hotels and restaurants, and spend time with her friends.
